## Biography

Colin Finbow (born 26 November 1940) is an English screenwriter and film director. He studied at Ipswich College of Art and Goldsmiths College, London, and wrote for radio, stage and television in the early 1960s.

His television credits include a teleplay for the series *The Avengers* (1965). In 1981 he established the Children's Film Unit, a charity that grew from the film studies department at Forest Hill Comprehensive School in London, where he had been Head of English. Through the unit he directed and wrote numerous low-budget features for young audiences, including *A Swarm in May* (1983), *Dark Enemy* (1984), *School for Vandals* (1986), *Hard Road* (1988) and *Doombeach* (1989).
