## Biography

Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, also known as One Ton, is a Chilean-born Canadian composer, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He was born on 18 October 1973 in Santiago, Chile, and is based in Montreal, Quebec. He holds a master's degree in classical music, specialising in percussion, from the Conservatoire de musique du Québec.

He first gained attention as a member of the pop band One Ton, which had a Canadian dance hit with "Supersex World" in 2003. Tapia de Veer began scoring for television with the 2011 miniseries *The Crimson Petal and the White*, followed by *Utopia* (2013). He is known for his work on *Black Mirror* (2017 episode "Black Museum"), *Humans* (2015), *The White Lotus* (2021–), the films *Smile* (2022) and *Smile 2* (2024), and *Babygirl* (2024). He is also scoring the forthcoming series *Lord of the Flies* (2026).

Tapia de Veer has received multiple Primetime Emmy Awards for *The White Lotus*, a SOCAN International Achievement Award in 2017, and other honours including a BAFTA and Royal Television Society awards.
