## Biography

Curtis Clark is an American cinematographer. Born in 1946 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, he studied theatre directing at the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago and cinematography at the London Film School. He began his career shooting documentaries and experimental films in England before moving into features.

His early narrative credit was as director of photography on Peter Greenaway’s *The Draughtsman’s Contract* (1982), for which he pioneered the use of Super 16mm origination blown up to 35mm. Subsequent feature credits include *Alamo Bay* (1985), *Dominick and Eugene* (1988), *Extremities* (1986) and *Triumph of the Spirit* (1989).

A member of the American Society of Cinematographers since 1991, Clark has chaired its Technology Committee and contributed to the development of the ASC Color Decision List. He received the Academy’s Technical Achievement Award in 2014 and the John A. Bonner Medal in 2019.
