## Biography

Curtis Cokes (1937–2020) was an American actor and former professional boxer. He played Earl in the 1972 film *Fat City*, directed by John Huston.

A world welterweight boxing champion between 1966 and 1969, Cokes made a small number of television appearances connected to the sport, including on *ABC's Wide World of Sports* and *HBO Boxing After Dark*. After his retirement from boxing he worked as a trainer.
