## Biography

Cy Feuer was an American composer, musician and theatre producer. Born Seymour Arnold Feuerman in Brooklyn, New York, he studied at the Juilliard School of Music and began his career as a professional trumpeter before moving to Hollywood in the late 1930s. There he worked at Republic Pictures as a composer, arranger and music director on numerous films, including *Angel and the Badman* (1947).

In the late 1940s Feuer formed a long-running partnership with Ernest H. Martin. Together they produced a string of successful Broadway musicals, among them *Where's Charley?* (1948), *Guys and Dolls* (1950), *Can-Can* (1953) and *How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying* (1961). Feuer later produced the 1972 film adaptation of *Cabaret*, which won eight Academy Awards. He received three competitive Tony Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Tony Award in 2003.
