## Biography

Cyril Coke was a British television director and producer. Born in London on 29 July 1914, he was the son of actor Edward Rigby. He began his career directing episodes of anthology series including *ITV Play of the Week* (1956–1967) and *ITV Television Playhouse* (1956–1963).

Coke directed five episodes of the period drama *Upstairs, Downstairs* (1972–1975). He also directed multiple episodes of *The Duchess of Duke Street* (1976–1977) and *Warship* (1974–1976), as well as the complete miniseries *Pride and Prejudice* (1980) and *Flickers* (1980). He was married to actress Muriel Young from 1954.

Coke died on 31 October 1993 in County Durham, England.
