## Biography

Cyril Hume (1900–1966) was an American novelist and screenwriter. He graduated from Yale University and began his career as a novelist before moving to screenwriting in the 1930s.

Hume wrote the screenplay for the science-fiction film *Forbidden Planet* (1956) and the story and screenplay for *Bigger Than Life* (1956). He contributed to numerous other films, including *Tarzan the Ape Man* (1932), *Flying Down to Rio* (1933), *Tarzan Escapes* (1936), *Tokyo Joe* (1949) and *The Great Gatsby* (1949), as well as episodes of the television series *The Rifleman*.
