## Biography

D. Keith Mano was an American writer and novelist. Born in Manhattan, New York, he attended Trinity School and Columbia University before studying at Clare College, Cambridge, as a Kellett Fellow. He performed with the National Shakespeare Company and later managed a family business while pursuing writing.

Mano published nine novels between 1968 and 1992, including *Bishop's Progress* (1968) and the ambitious *Take Five* (1982). From 1972 to 1989 he wrote the column "The Gimlet Eye" for *National Review*. In the 1980s and 1990s he wrote for television, contributing episodes to *St. Elsewhere* (1987), *Monsters* (1989), *L.A. Law* (1993) and *Homicide: Life on the Street* (1994). He died in Manhattan on 14 September 2016.
