## Biography

Daisuke Tengan is a Japanese screenwriter and film director. Born on 14 December 1959 in Tokyo, he is the eldest son of director Shohei Imamura.

He wrote the screenplay for Takashi Miike’s *Audition* (1999), adapted from the novel by Ryu Murakami. Tengan has collaborated frequently with both Miike and his father, contributing screenplays to Imamura’s *The Eel* (1997) and *Warm Water Under a Red Bridge* (2001), and to Miike’s *13 Assassins* (2010). He has also directed several of his own features, including *Aiki* (2002) and *Dendera* (2011).
