He is best known as the creator, director and co-writer of the series *The Chosen* (2017–), the first multi-season drama about the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Born in St. Charles, Illinois, in 1975, he is the son of novelist Jerry B. Jenkins. Jenkins graduated from the University of Northwestern–St. Paul in 1997. His early credits include producing the feature *Hometown Legend* (2000) for Warner Bros. distribution and directing the features *What If...* (2010) and *The Resurrection of Gavin Stone* (2017). He later directed *The Best Christmas Pageant Ever* (2024).
