## Biography

Dallas L. Barnes is an American television writer and novelist. A former homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department, he began his writing career with crime novels before moving into episodic television.

His television credits include episodes of *Kojak* (1975), *Wonder Woman* (1977), *T. J. Hooker* (1982) and multiple episodes of *Hunter* (1987–1988), several of which were based on his novels. He has also written for series such as *Baretta*, *Barnaby Jones* and *Vega$*, and contributed to made-for-television films including *Terror Among Us* (1981). Barnes has written nearly two hundred hours of prime-time drama and received Emmy, Edgar Allan Poe Award and Humanitas Prize nominations.

Born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Barnes served in the US Marine Corps and with the LAPD before publishing his first novel, *See the Woman*, in 1973. He later worked as a supervising producer on the soap opera *Another Life*.
