Dan Koeppel is a writer and journalist. He wrote the story and co-wrote the teleplay for the *Star Trek: The Next Generation* episode 'Inheritance', broadcast in 1993. His only other screenwriting credit is as co-writer of the 1994 film *The Lost Words*.

Koeppel began his career in journalism as a columnist for mountain bike publications in 1988. He has contributed articles to magazines including *Elle*, *Martha Stewart Living* and *The New York Times*, and has written books on topics such as extreme sports, cycling and natural history.
