Dan Staley is an American television writer and producer. Born on 3 February 1963 in Manhattan Beach, California, he graduated from Yale University in 1985. He began his career as a copywriter in advertising before moving into television writing in 1990.

With writing partner Rob Long, Staley contributed to the final four seasons of the NBC sitcom *Cheers* (1982), writing 14 episodes and serving as co-executive producer on the final season (1992–93). The pair later created several series, including *Pig Sty* (1995), *Good Company* (1996), *George & Leo* (1997) and *Love & Money* (1999).

Staley later worked solo as executive producer and showrunner on the Disney Channel series *Good Luck Charlie* (2010–2014) and its 2011 television film. He was also on the writing staff of *Kevin Can Wait* (2016). He has received five Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
