## Biography

Dan Wilcox was an American television writer and producer. He wrote for *Sesame Street* in its early years and won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1970 for his work on the series. He later contributed to programmes including *Good Times*, *Alice* and *Roots: The Next Generations*.

Wilcox joined the writing staff of *M*A*S*H* in 1979 with his longtime partner Thad Mumford. He wrote or co-wrote 36 episodes across the final four seasons and served as a producer on the last two. He was among the credited writers of the series finale, *Goodbye, Farewell and Amen* (1983). He also wrote for *Newhart*, *Growing Pains*, *Diagnosis: Murder*, *Becker* and *Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman*.

Wilcox received further Emmy nominations for his *M*A*S*H* work and was awarded the Writers Guild of America West Morgan Cox Award in 2017 for his service to the guild. He died in Los Angeles on 14 February 2024.
