Dana Kaproff is an American composer born on 24 April 1954 in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of a cellist and nephew of a violinist. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles.

Kaproff has composed music for more than one hundred films, television series and documentaries. His credits include the series *Cagney & Lacey* (1982), *When a Stranger Calls* (1979), *The Big Red One* (1980), *Empire of the Ants* (1977), *Death Valley* (1982), *When a Stranger Calls Back* (1993) and *Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee* (2016). He has also worked on *Falcon Crest* and the *Spider-Man* television series.

In addition to film and television scoring, Kaproff has composed for documentaries and released recordings as a songwriter and producer. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
