Daniel Casey is an English actor born on 1 June 1972 in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham. He is best known for playing DS Gavin Troy in the first six series of *Midsomer Murders* (1997–2003), with a later guest appearance.

He made his television debut as Anthony Cox in the BBC series *Our Friends in the North* (1996). Other television roles include appearances in *Silent Witness*, *A Touch of Frost*, *Hex*, *Marchlands*, *Steel River Blues* and several soap operas. He began his career on stage in a touring production of *Dead Fish*.

Casey is the son of journalist and television presenter Luke Casey. He studied English literature at Durham University and has been married to Ellie Casey since 2005; they have two sons.
