## Biography

Daniel Evans is a Welsh actor and director. Born in the Rhondda in 1973, he trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company early in his career.

He is known for stage roles in musicals such as *Merrily We Roll Along* (2000) and *Sunday in the Park with George* (2005–2008), winning Olivier Awards for Best Actor in a Musical for both. Screen credits include *Tomorrow La Scala!* (2002), *The Barber of Siberia* (1998), *The Ramen Girl* (2008), *Les Misérables* (2012) and television appearances in *Midsomer Murders*, *Spooks* and *Daniel Deronda* (all 2002).

Evans served as Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres (2010–2017) and Chichester Festival Theatre (2017–2023). He is co-Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
