## Biography

Daniel Pearl is an American cinematographer. He studied at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Radio, Film and Television and a Master of Arts in Communication (Film). He met director Tobe Hooper while working in a film lab there, leading to his first feature credit as director of photography on *The Texas Chain Saw Massacre* (1974).

Pearl has photographed numerous feature films, with many credits in the horror genre. These include the 2003 remake of *The Texas Chain Saw Massacre*, *Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem* (2007), *Friday the 13th* (2009), *The Boy* (2016) and *Mom and Dad* (2017). He has also worked extensively in music videos, shooting more than 400, and over 250 commercials. Pearl is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and received the first MTV Video Music Award for cinematography, for "Every Breath You Take".
