## Biography

Daniel Seltzer (13 February 1933 – 1 March 1980) was an American actor and professor of English at Princeton University, specialising in Shakespearean drama and staging. He graduated summa cum laude from Princeton in 1954, received a PhD from Harvard University in 1957, and taught at Harvard before joining Princeton in 1971, where he served as chairman of the McCarter Theatre from 1972 to 1976.

Seltzer appeared as Dr. Arthur Jacobs in the 1978 film *An Unmarried Woman*, directed by Paul Mazursky. On stage, he received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in Jules Feiffer's *Knock Knock* (1976) and a Theatre World Award for the same role. He died of a heart attack in New York City at the age of 47.
