## Biography

Dario Argento is an Italian film director, screenwriter and producer born on 7 September 1940 in Rome. He began his career in the 1960s as a film critic and columnist before working as a screenwriter on several films, including co-writing the story for Sergio Leone's *Once Upon a Time in the West* (1968).

Argento made his directorial debut with *The Bird with the Crystal Plumage* (1970) and went on to direct numerous giallo and horror films, among them *Deep Red* (1975), *Suspiria* (1977), *Inferno* (1980) and *Tenebre* (1982). He also contributed to the European cut of George A. Romero's *Dawn of the Dead* (1978), for which he worked with Goblin on the score.
