David A. Goodman is an American television writer and producer. Born on 13 December 1962 in New Rochelle, New York, he graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in 1984. His first writing job was as a story editor on the series *The Golden Girls* (1986–1989).

Goodman later worked on *Futurama* (2002–2003, 2023) as a writer and co-executive producer, contributing the episode "Where No Fan Has Gone Before". He has written for *Family Guy*, *Star Trek: Enterprise* and *The Orville*, and served as president of the Writers Guild of America West from 2017 to 2021. He has also written several books set in the Star Trek universe.
