## Biography

David Alvarez is a Canadian dancer and actor. Born on 11 May 1994 in Montreal, Quebec, he trained as a dancer with American Ballet Theatre.

He is best known as one of the original Billys in the Broadway production of *Billy Elliot the Musical* (2008–2010), for which he shared the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical in 2009. He later appeared as a swing in the 2014 Broadway revival of *On the Town* and served in the US Army before returning to performing.

Alvarez played Bernardo in Steven Spielberg's 2021 film *West Side Story* and Isaac English in the television series *American Rust* (2021–2024).
