## Biography

David Andrews (22 October 1935 – January 2026) was a British television director, actor and writer. He began his career as an actor in the late 1950s, appearing in television, film and on the West End stage, before training as a director on the BBC's television directors’ course in the early 1970s.

His directing credits include work for Scottish Television, where he directed numerous episodes of *Take the High Road* and other dramas such as *Stookie*. After leaving STV in 1990 he worked freelance on series including *Jupiter Moon*, *Grange Hill*, *EastEnders* (1991) and *Strathblair*. From 1996 he joined Mersey Television, directing over 100 episodes of *Hollyoaks* and episodes of *Brookside* and *Grange Hill*.
