## Biography

David Assael (12 January 1947 – 1 November 2021) was an American television writer and producer. His early credits include episodes of *The Love Boat* (from 1977), *The White Shadow* (1980–81), *Chicago Story* (1982) and *St. Elsewhere* (1983).

He wrote the teleplay for the *Miami Vice* episode 'Lombard' (1985) and contributed to *Knots Landing* (1985), *A Year in the Life* (1987–88) and *Star Trek: The Next Generation* (1989), for which he received a story and teleplay credit on 'The Icarus Factor'. Later work encompassed episodes of *Northern Exposure* (1990–93), *Picket Fences* (1992), *Homefront* (1992), *Baywatch Nights* (1995), *Dellaventura* (1997) and *Call of the Wild* (2000). He also wrote the screenplays for the films *Evan's Crime* (2015) and *The Jade Pendant* (2017), serving as producer on the former.
