## Biography

David Bennent is a Swiss actor. He was born on 9 September 1966 in Lausanne and is the son of actor Heinz Bennent and former dancer Diane Mansart. His sister Anne Bennent is also an actress. He has lived in Germany and France as well as Switzerland, and speaks fluent German, French and English.

Bennent is best known for his performance as Oskar Matzerath in Volker Schlöndorff’s *The Tin Drum* (1979). He later appeared as Honeythorn Gump in *Legend* (1985). His other film credits include *She Hate Me* (2004), *Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas* (2013), *Fog in August* (2016), *Happy as Lazzaro* (2018) and *The Universal Theory* (2023). He has also worked extensively in theatre, with roles in productions such as *Peer Gynt* (2004) and *A Midsummer Night’s Dream* (2002).
