David Castañeda is an American actor. Born on 24 October 1989 in Los Angeles, he was raised in Sinaloa, Mexico, before returning to the United States at the age of 14. He initially studied civil engineering at California State University, Fullerton, with the intention of entering the family business, but switched to film production and graduated with a BA in 2015.

Castañeda began acting while at university and has appeared in guest roles on series including *Lie to Me* (2009), *Jane the Virgin* (2014) and *Blindspot* (2015). He is best known for portraying Diego Hargreeves across all four seasons of the Netflix series *The Umbrella Academy* (2019–2024). His film credits include *End of Watch* (2012), *Sicario: Day of the Soldado* (2018) as Hector, *We Die Young* (2019) and *The Guilty* (2021). In 2025 he played Javier in *Ballerina*.
