David Dawson is an English actor born on 7 September 1982 in Widnes, Cheshire. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Dawson is known for television roles including Roberts in *Peaky Blinders* (2013), King Alfred in *The Last Kingdom* (2015–2018), Toby Kent in *Luther* (2010) and Fred Best in *Ripper Street* (2012–2016). Film credits include *My Policeman* (2022) and *All the Old Knives* (2022). He is set to appear as Derek Jarman in the 2026 film *Elsinore*.

On stage, he received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for playing Smike in the 2007 production of *The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby*. Other theatre work includes productions of *Comedians* (2009), *Posh* (2010) and *Luise Miller* (2011).
