## Biography

David Duncan (1913–1999) was an American screenwriter and novelist. He began writing full-time in 1946 after a decade in government administration, and started screenwriting in 1953 with the film *Sangaree*.

Duncan is best known for his work on science-fiction films, including the screenplay for *The Time Machine* (1960), the adaptation for *Fantastic Voyage* (1966), and earlier screenplay credit on the 2002 remake of *The Time Machine*. He also contributed to *The Black Scorpion* (1957), *Monster on the Campus* (1958) and *The Leech Woman* (1960), and wrote episodes for television series such as *The Outer Limits* and *Daniel Boone*.
