## Biography

David Foster (1929–2019) was an American film producer. He began his career as a publicist at Rogers & Cowan, representing clients including Steve McQueen, Shirley MacLaine and Peter Sellers, before becoming a partner at Allan, Foster, Ingersoll and Weber. He moved into producing with McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), directed by Robert Altman.

Foster's subsequent credits include The Getaway (1972), The Thing (1982), Short Circuit (1986), The River Wild (1994), The Mask of Zorro (1998), Collateral Damage (2002), Hart's War (2002) and The Core (2003). He also served as executive producer on the 2011 remake of The Thing. He died in Los Angeles on 23 December 2019.
