David Griffin is an English actor born on 19 July 1943 in Richmond, Surrey. He is best known for his television roles as Squadron Leader Clive Dempster DFC in the BBC sitcom *Hi-de-Hi!* (1984–1988) and as Emmet Hawksworth in *Keeping Up Appearances* (1991–1995).

Griffin began his screen career in 1960 with the film *A French Mistress*. His other notable appearances include roles in *if....* (1968), *The Blood Beast Terror* (1968), *Battle of Britain* (1969), *Trog* (1970), *Rollerball* (1975), *Doctor Who* (1972) as Lieutenant Commander Mitchell, and *'Allo 'Allo!* (1989). He retired from acting in 2005.
