## Biography

David Harris was an American actor whose screen career spanned films and television from the mid-1970s until the 2010s. He trained at the High School of Performing Arts in New York City and made his screen debut in the 1976 television film *Judge Horton and the Scottsboro Boys*.

He is best known for playing Cochise in the 1979 cult film *The Warriors*. Other notable film roles include Duane Spivey in *Brubaker* (1980) and Private Smalls in *A Soldier's Story* (1984). On television he appeared in series including *North and South* (1985), *MacGyver* (1985), *NYPD Blue* (1993) as Officer Donny Simmons, and *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* (1999). Harris died in New York City in 2024.
