David Hempstead was an American film producer. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he worked primarily at RKO Radio Pictures in the 1930s and 1940s, later moving to 20th Century-Fox.

He produced *Kitty Foyle* (1940), which received an Academy Award nomination for Outstanding Production. His other producing credits include *Mr. Lucky* (1943), *None But the Lonely Heart* (1944) and *Portrait of Jennie* (1948), on which he served as associate producer. He also wrote the story for *Hell and High Water* (1954).
