## Biography

David Hutcheson (14 June 1905 – 18 February 1976) was a British character actor. Born in Craigmore, Isle of Bute, Scotland, he made his film debut in *Fast and Loose* (1930) and appeared in his only lead role in *Romance in Rhythm* (1934). He specialised in comic and military parts in numerous British films and continued working in cinema and television into the 1970s.

His credits include *The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp* (1943) as Hoppy, *The Way Ahead* (1944), *Vice Versa* (1948), *The Evil of Frankenstein* (1964), *The Magic Christian* (1969), *The Abominable Dr. Phibes* (1971) as Dr. Hedgepath, and *The National Health* (1973). On stage he frequently played Colonel Pickering in productions of *My Fair Lady* during the 1960s. In 1949 he married Mary, Countess of Warwick.
