## Biography

David Lang is an American composer. Born in Los Angeles in 1957, he studied at Stanford University, the University of Iowa and Yale University, where he later became a professor of composition.

Lang co-founded the music collective Bang on a Can in 1987. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2008 for his choral work *The Little Match Girl Passion*. His film work includes the score and the song 'Simple Song #3' for Paolo Sorrentino’s *Youth* (2015), for which he received an Academy Award nomination, as well as the score for *Wildlife* (2018). He previously contributed music to Sorrentino’s *The Great Beauty* (2013) and arranged music for the Kronos Quartet in *Requiem for a Dream* (2000).
