David Luther is a cinematographer. He was born on 1 July 1972 in Munich to Czech and Slovak parents, the son of Slovak cinematographer Igor Luther. He studied cinematography at FAMU in Prague and then at the National Film & Television School in Beaconsfield, graduating with first-class honours.

Luther began his career in commercials before moving into television drama. He is known for his work as director of photography on the series *Sherlock* (2010), *The White Queen* (2013), *His Dark Materials* (2019), *Das Boot* (2018–2020) and *Silo* (2023). He has received a German Camera Prize, German Television Awards and ASC nominations for his cinematography.
