## Biography

David M. Walsh (also credited as David Martin Walsh or David Walsh) is an American cinematographer born on 23 July 1931 in Cumberland, Maryland. He began his career in 1955 as an assistant animation cameraman at the Walt Disney Studios and worked as a camera operator on numerous features during the 1960s, including *Bullitt* (1968) and *Paint Your Wagon* (1969). He became a director of photography in 1970.

Walsh is known for his work on films including *Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex *But Were Afraid to Ask* (1972), *Sleeper* (1973), *Murder by Death* (1976), *Silver Streak* (1976), *The Goodbye Girl* (1977), *Foul Play* (1978) and *Private Benjamin* (1980). He collaborated frequently with directors Woody Allen, Herbert Ross and Arthur Hiller. In 1975 he received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography for Entertainment Programming for a Special for the television film *Queen of the Stardust Ballroom*.
