Mallinson played Michael O'Donnell in the BBC drama series *This Life* (1996–1997). His other television credits include Kenneth Marshall in *Agatha Christie's Poirot* (2001), Alan Pinkney in *Midsomer Murders* (2003), Colonel Dorking in *Sherlock Holmes* (1984) and *The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes*, The Dean and other roles in *Casualty* (1997–2010), and Frank in *The Professionals* (1978).
