## Biography

David Manners (born Rauff de Ryther Duan Acklom) was a Canadian-American actor. He appeared as John Harker in Tod Browning's *Dracula* (1931) and as Bill Merrick in *The Millionaire* (1931). Other notable film roles include Frank Whemple in *The Mummy* (1932), Peter Alison in *The Black Cat* (1934), John Carson in *The Miracle Woman* (1931) and Kit Humphreys in *A Bill of Divorcement* (1932).

Manners began his career on stage and made his screen debut in *Journey's End* (1930). He left film acting in 1936 and retired from the theatre in 1953. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and died in Santa Barbara, California, on 23 December 1998.
