David Merritt II is a writer, director and producer. He served as staff writer and story editor (credited as David Merritt) on the television series *The Blacklist* (2013), contributing to 23 episodes between 2018 and 2022, and received writing credits on two episodes.

Earlier credits include writing for WWE programmes such as *WWE SmackDown!* (1999–2005) and *WWE Raw* (2005). He has written, directed and produced independent shorts including *Mouthpiece* (2016), *Unravel* (2017) and *Five Thousand Six Hundred Ninety Seven Pounds* (2025).

He is from Durham, North Carolina, and is based in Tarzana, California, where he founded the production company King David Films.
