## Biography

David Myerscough-Jones (15 September 1934 – 21 April 2010) was an English production designer who worked in film, television and theatre. Born in Southport, Lancashire, he began his career in repertory theatre before joining the BBC Design Department in 1965.

He designed three stories for the BBC series *Doctor Who*: *The Web of Fear* (1968), *The Ambassadors of Death* (1970) and *Day of the Daleks* (1972). His other BBC credits include opera productions with Benjamin Britten such as *Peter Grimes* (1969) and *Owen Wingrave* (1970), as well as dramas including *Thérèse Raquin* (1980), for which he received a BAFTA award for Best Design, and Shakespeare adaptations. He also received a Royal Television Society award for his designs on *The Flying Dutchman* (1976). After leaving the BBC in 1990 he continued as a freelance designer in opera and theatre.
