## Biography

David Oswald Nelson (1936–2011) was an American actor, producer and director. He was the elder son of entertainers Ozzie Nelson and Harriet Hilliard Nelson, and the older brother of musician Ricky Nelson.

Nelson began his career playing himself alongside his family on the radio series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet from 1949, continuing on the television version from 1952 to 1966. He made his film debut in Here Come the Nelsons (1952) and appeared in Peyton Place (1957) as Ted Carter. Other film roles included parts in Day of the Outlaw (1959), The Big Circus (1959) and Cry-Baby (1990). He also directed episodes of the family series.

Nelson died on 11 January 2011 in Century City, California.
