## Biography

David Newell is an American actor best known for portraying Mr. McFeely, the speedy delivery man, on the children's television series *Mister Rogers' Neighborhood* from its debut in 1968 until 2001. He also worked for many years in the public relations department of Fred Rogers Productions.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Newell began his career in theatre at the Pittsburgh Playhouse before joining the production of *Mister Rogers' Neighborhood* initially as a public relations manager and production assistant. He appeared as himself in the 2018 documentary *Won't You Be My Neighbor?* and had an uncredited cameo in the 2019 film *A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood*. Newell toured promoting the series until his retirement from those appearances in 2015 and received a Gold Circle honour from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
