David Nichols was an American production designer, art director and visual consultant. Born in Dallas, Texas, he worked in film and on Broadway over a career spanning more than thirty years.

He served as production designer on *Groundhog Day* (1993). Earlier in his career he contributed to the art departments of *Mean Streets* (1973), *Taxi Driver* (1976) and *Rocky* (1976). Other production design credits include *Hoosiers* (1986), *The Serpent and the Rainbow* (1988), *Great Balls of Fire!* (1989), *Mr. Holland's Opus* (1995) and *Airheads* (1994). He died in Taos, New Mexico, in 2020.
