## Biography

David Rayfiel was an American screenwriter. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he studied at Brooklyn College and received a master's degree in playwriting from the Yale School of Drama. He began writing for television in the 1950s and had a play, P.S. 193, staged in 1962.

Rayfiel maintained a long collaboration with director Sydney Pollack, contributing credited and uncredited work to many of his films, often alongside actor Robert Redford. His credited screenplays include Three Days of the Condor (1975), for which he shared an Edgar Allan Poe Award with Lorenzo Semple Jr.; Havana (1990); The Firm (1993); and Sabrina (1995). He also wrote for series such as Columbo and Night Gallery, and received a César Award for Death Watch (1980).
