## Biography

David Rupel is an American television writer. He has written for soap operas including *Guiding Light*, where he served as associate head writer and script writer, and *General Hospital*, where he worked as associate head writer, breakdown writer and script writer. He has also written for *The Young and the Restless*.

Rupel wrote episodes of *Homicide: Life on the Street* (1993) and contributed to *In the Heat of the Night* and *Moloney*. He has produced reality series including *The Real Housewives of Orange County*, *The Real World* and *Big Brother 2*. He won a Daytime Emmy Award for writing on *Guiding Light* in 2007 and received further Emmy and Writers Guild of America nominations for the same series.

Rupel attended Norwell High School in Ossian, Indiana, and graduated magna cum laude from Indiana University Bloomington with a BA in communications.
