David S. Rosenthal is an American television writer and producer. He began his career as a writer's assistant on the sitcom *Anything but Love* before writing for *Nurses* and *Laurie Hill*. He co-created the sitcom *Ellen* (originally titled *These Friends of Mine*) with Neal Marlens and Carol Black.

Rosenthal wrote for and served as showrunner on *Spin City*. He joined *Gilmore Girls* as a writer and producer for season six and was chosen by Amy Sherman-Palladino to replace her as showrunner for the seventh and final season in 2006–2007. He has also written for series including *The Middle*, *Jane the Virgin*, *90210*, *'Til Death* and *Eastwick*.
