## Biography

David Scearce is a Canadian lawyer and screenwriter. He earned a business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a law degree from the University of British Columbia before joining the federal Justice Department.

In 2000 he began writing screenplays in his spare time. His first completed script was an adaptation of Christopher Isherwood’s novel *A Single Man*, which he wrote on spec. The project was acquired by Tom Ford, who shared the screenplay credit; the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2009. Scearce later adapted Robert Lipsyte’s novel *One Fat Summer* as *Measure of a Man* (2018), on which he also served as executive producer. In 2018 he was commissioned to write a screen adaptation of the biography *Jack and Lem*.
