## Biography

David Velasco is an American writer and editor. He served as editor-in-chief of the art magazine *Artforum* from 2017 to 2023, having joined the publication in 2005. He holds a bachelor's degree in anthropology from Reed College (2000) and a master's degree from New York University (2004).

In 2017, Velasco helped photographer and activist Nan Goldin establish the advocacy group P.A.I.N. (Prescription Addiction Intervention Now). He appears as himself, credited as Editor-in-Chief of *Artforum*, in Laura Poitras's documentary *All the Beauty and the Bloodshed* (2022), which chronicles the group's activities.
