## Biography

Deanna Dunagan is an American actress. Born on 25 May 1940 in Monahans, Texas, she earned a degree in music education from the University of Texas at Austin and studied acting at Trinity University through the Dallas Theater Center. She began her career on stage and has performed extensively in Chicago theatres, later making her Broadway debut in the 1979 production of *Man and Superman*.

Dunagan originated the role of Violet Weston in Tracy Letts' *August: Osage County* at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company; the production transferred to Broadway in 2007, for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play, as well as Drama Desk and Theatre World Awards. She has also worked in film and television, appearing as Nana in *The Visit* (2015) and as Sharon in *Stillwater* (2021). Other credits include recurring roles in *The Exorcist* (2016) as Mother Bernadette and *Chicago Med* as Margaret Charles.
