## Biography

DeMane Davis is an American film and television director and producer. Born in 1967 in Roxbury, Massachusetts, she began her career with the independent feature *Black & White & Red All Over* (1997), which she co-wrote and produced, followed by co-directing the crime thriller *Lift* (2001) with Khari Streeter. The latter premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and featured Kerry Washington in her first leading role.

Davis later worked in advertising before returning to longer-form directing. Ava DuVernay invited her to direct episodes of *Queen Sugar*, where she also served as producing director. This led to further television work directing episodes of series including *How to Get Away with Murder*, *Station 19*, *You*, *Clarice* and *Found*, as well as producing roles on *Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker*, *Naomi* and *Brilliant Minds*.
